NABIGWASAN na naman ang pamunuan ng Kamara de Representantes, partikular ang mayorya na pinamumunuan ni Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco, hinggil sa ‘pinatulog’ na mga kaso ni Associate Justice (AJ) Marvic Leonen tungkol sa umano’y sadyang paglabag sa Konstitusyon.

Sa pagkakataong ito, ang Filipino League of Advocates for Good Governance-Maharlika (FLAGG-Maharlika) ang bumanat sa liderato ng Kamara dahil hanggang ngayon ay wala pa itong aksyon sa impeachment complaint laban kay Leonen.

Ilang linggo na ang nakalipas, kasapi ng minorya ang bumatikos kay Velasco dahil hindi man lang gumalaw kahit bahagya ang mga kaso para sa impeachment ni Leonen.

Sa press statement na inilabas ng FLAGG-Maharlika, tinumbok ng secretary-general nito na si Edwin Cordevilla na: “It is with great dismay we look at the House of Representatives now, supposedly the very house that houses the representatives of our people’s desires and aspirations to make things which matter to the nation a reality”.

“In our search for justice, we marched into the very halls of Congress in December 2020 to file an impeachment case that was found sufficient in form by the House Secretary General himself,” patuloy ni Cordevilla.

Mahigit tatlong buwan na mula nang ihain ng FLAGG-Maharlika sa Kamara ang mga reklamo laban kay Leonen.
Tinanggap at inendorso ito ni Ilocos Norte Rep. Angelo Barba.

Sa ginawang ito ni Barba, nasunod ang kondisyon sa impeachment na itinakda ng Konstitusyon.

Idiniin ni Cordevilla na “verified impeachment complaint” ang isinampa niya laban kay Leonen.

Muling tinukoy ni Cordevilla na mayroong sapat na mga batayan sa mga kaso ni Leonen hinggil sa sadyang paglabag ng Saligang Batas at pagtraydor ng pampublikong tiwala bilang isa sa mga mahistrado ng Korte Suprema.

“We have painstakingly built up the case to prove and show that Justice Leonen is indeed needed to be removed without delay, via a sacred right enshrined in the Constitution,” birada ni Cordevilla.

“The House of Representatives, tasked to hear the case however, prefers to play dumb and chooses to take cover behind some alien mathematics. For, strangely, nobody among them seems to know how to correctly count their session days,” hambalos pa ni Cordevilla.

Aniya, “The inaction of the House echoes the very attitude we find contemptible in Justice Leonen”.

Dahil sa mistulang sinadyang tulugan ang kaso, mapapaisip ang sinoman na mayroong “lohikal na batayan” na binibigyan ng proteksyon ng Kamara na pinamumunuan ni Velasco si Leonen mula sa mga totoong ginawa ng mahistrado noong italaga siya ni dating pangulong Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III sa pinakamataas na korte ng bansa noong Nobyembre 2012.

Sabi ni Cordevilla: “The deafening silence of our congressmen with regards to our verified impeachment complaint inevitably awakens our reservations in the very processes written and made into laws in the very halls that house them”.

Ngunit, kumbinsido si Cordevilla na hindi lang ang FLAGG-Maharlika ang matamang nagmamatyag sa ilang miyembro ng Kamara, kundi ang mamamayang Pilipino dahil sa punumpuno ang mga ito ng kababalaghan sa buhay.

“And judgment is turned” away backward, and justice standeth afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter,” huling bitaw ni Cordevilla na isa ring makata.
